PANDAV LENI - A FUN TREK AND TOURIST ATTRACTION OF NASHIK CITY

I have hiked the Pandavleni Caves in Nashik several times with my cousins. It is an absolutely beautiful and a peaceful place for an early morning trek and also for a one day tour. Surrounded by a lush greenery around, the caves are an ideal place for the early morning Pranayama lovers.

We usually begin our treks at about 6 in the morning . The route leading to the top is surrounded by lots of trees and bushes. One can climb up the rocks as well as use the stairs constructed for a less adventurous journey.

THE CLIMB UP THE MOUNTAIN

The climb up is surely the fun part whilst finding the quickest and easiest way to reach the top. One must be careful so as to not fall since the slope gets more vertical as we move up. The trick is to climb diagonally rather than straight up to avoid slipping off the rocks .

There are many people who come here for a daily morning trek and hence they climb up really well knowing the path.

THE VIEW FROM THE TOP

We finally reached the top at about 7:30 am. The view from the top is amazing and relaxing.

We stood there watching the whole of Nashik city from the top view which was mesmerizing. All the roads and highway looked miniature from there.

 THE CAVES

These caves are one of the oldest caves of Maharashtra. Some of the caves are large and contain numerous chambers - these rock-cut caves served as monasteries where the sermons conducted lessons and their disciples came to visit and hear them.

The caves have various sculptures of Buddha, Sermons meditating , Kings and Farmers, Merchants and other people .The architecture of these caves is wonderful with stone-cut ladders joining the caves to one another. The caves also have excellent water management system with bath areas and tanks to harvest the rain water .

MOVING BACK DOWN

After visiting the caves for over an hour or so, we started our trek downwards. A lot of us know that climbing down is more difficult than climbing up any hill or mountain. The muscles become sore and tired due to the climb and hence getting down is tough as the legs go numb and not in our control anymore.  We could feel our thigh muscles straining and the muscle pain increasing but it surely is worth the beautiful view of the trek. We finally reached the bottom at about 10 am.It was a fabulous hike and now we were eager to hit the breakfast table with starving stomachs.

THANK YOU.
